Educational Services
Academic Instruction:
Individualized academic instruction is provided in core academic subject areas. Students receive daily academic instruction in a highly structured self-contained classroom setting. All students receive 180 minutes of academic and 2, 90 minute vocational classes. Students that require more hands on experiences are placed into two vocational classes and one academic class. Students with greater academic ability are placed into two academic classes and one vocational class. Students acquire and apply new skills at a rate that is appropriate for their age and intellectual ability. Academic curriculum is provided in the following areas:

Vocational Training:
Vocational education is designed to meet the individual needs, abilities and interest of the student. Students explore and learn a variety of vocational skills through hands on exploratory experiences structured in two hour blocks of daily instruction. The goal of Vocational education is to provide the training and services each student needs in transition into adulthood. Vocational course options include:

Job Placement Program:
The Job Placement program offers students the opportunity to learn, practice, and develop skills required for success in the work place. Students involved in the Job Placement attain core educational competencies, gain a first hand understanding of the world of work and actively participate in job related learning activities at both the Academy and in several community based work sites. One goal of the program is 85% of all residents 14 years of age and older will participate.
Education Staff:
Wyalusing Academy teachers are certified in Special Education or in their specific field of Vocational Instruction by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
