Program Services

The goal of our treatment program at Wyalusing Academy is to successfully reintegrate the adolescent back into his/her own community or future placement. This goal can be achieved through commitment and investment in treatment on the part of the adolescent. Concerned and qualified staff at Wyalusing Academy will assist the adolescent in achieving this goal by providing an individualized treatment program of services.

It is our desire to meet the daily and long-term needs of the adolescent by using the skills and knowledge of all staff at Wyalusing Academy in a manner that is therapeutic for the adolescent.

Education Services:
The educational program is a combined academic/vocational school program and is staffed with faculty members certified in their areas of specialization by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI).

Residential Living and Recreational Services:
The purpose of the living units is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for each resident. Within this setting residents learn age appropriate social and communication skills through interaction with other adolescents and youth care workers.

Clinical Services:
The treatment program at the Academy follows the principle that all residents have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and utilizes a progressive process of positive intervention techniques to keep residents engaged in their individual treatment plans. Every child receives individual therapy with a social worker/therapist weekly, along with group therapy weekly.

Cognitive Intervention:
Cognitive Intervention is a specialized program for adolescents with out of control, anti-social or delinquent conduct. The programs purpose is to bring about progressive lifestyle changes through choices that allow individuals to change irresponsible thinking patterns and reconstruct responsible thinking patterns.

Job Placement:
The Wyalusing Academy Job Placement Program recognizes the need for our students to be better prepared for the work place. We are committed to providing students with career information, practical hands-on experiences, employment skills and development of work habits that are needed to become productive workers.
