Alternate Day School
Wyalusing Academy school day is composed of two half days. Residents receive three hours of individualized academic instruction. The low teacher to student ratio assures that residents are given the necessary attention needed to be successful in a school setting.The remaining three hours the residents will receive vocational instruction. The areas of Vocational Training may include:
- Family Consumer Education
- Food Service
- Business Education
- Independent Living Skills
- Art
- Auto Shop
- Cosmetology/Barbering
- Landscaping
- Construction Trades
The Academy provides a comprehensive educational program designed to meet the special needs of adolescents who have been unable to achieve academically in other settings. All residents entering the Academy educational program receive a formal educational assessment by a classroom teacher. Their academic plan is individualized to meet each resident's academic and therapeutic needs.
