Primary Objective:
Provide quality nursing services to augment therapy services provided to residents in care.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Med Tech certification or experience in med administration preferred, but not required.
  • Medication administration will be provided on-sight for the successful applicant.
  • 21 years of age.
  • Ability to be tactful, patient, understanding, emotionally stable, and dependable.
  • High desire to help people.
  • Work as a part of a team that includes Registered Nurses, Therapists, Psychologists, Medical Doctor, Physician Aide, and State Representatives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to perform repetitive, routine tasks.
  • May not have on record a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect.

Dakota Reach: Residential Youth Care Worker

Primary Job Objective for Residential Youth Care Worker: The Residential Youth Care Worker is responsible for supervision and role modeling, providing a consistent, safe, and supportive environment for adolescents with developmental disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Residential Youth Care Worker:

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Provides input during the treatment planning process.
  • Communicates pertinent information as it relates to youth and their therapeutic needs.
  • Facilitates activities when on shift.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Helps to develop healthy communication and problem-solving skills during times of high stress or anxiety.
  • Helps with daily chores and daily living activities.
  • Develops and maintains an appropriate and healthy relationship with youth.
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for teaching, modeling, practicing supporting and articulating the appropriate behaviors for youth.
  • Provide intervention in accordance with approved techniques
  • Participates in all required agency training.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Registered Nurse (RN) Primary Objective:

  • Provide nursing care to Aurora Plains Academy residents and employees as allowed by Aurora Plains Academy Policy and Nurse Practice Act.

Registered Nurse (RN) Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of Aurora Plains Academy nursing role/function.
  • Participate in unit clinical staff and multi-disciplinary meetings to provide nursing input in the evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for individual residents.
  • Provide nursing consultation for staff throughout the program regarding resident nursing/medical care and needs.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of the use of psychotropic medication including possible benefits/side effects
  • Function as a team member in all interactions with residents and staff.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with residents.
  • Work closely with the Department Director and other health care providers to ensure all orders for medical and psychiatric treatments are implemented and the appropriate records and processing are completed.
  • Administer medication and provide nursing treatment as prescribed.
  • Prepare and present medical/psychiatric staffing reports.
  • Complete intake nursing assessments on residents.
  • Prioritize responsibilities and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Identify own learning needs and seek the information to improve knowledge/skills.
  • Actively and willingly participates in the decision-making process.
  • Objectively obtains facts and information pertinent to decision-making.
  • Make decisions within the guidelines of the job description.

Registered Nurse (RN) Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Must have an Associate Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Must be certified by the South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Must have excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule with varying shifts.
  • May not have on record a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect.

Registered Nurse (RN) Working Conditions:

  • May spend a considerable amount of time walking and standing.
  • Night, weekend and holiday shifts are required.
  • On-call shifts are required; must be able to work with short notice.
